The above footage is of San Francisco Giants prospect Mike Kickham pitching against the Harrisburg Senators on August 29th, 2012. Facing a lineup that included top prospect Anthony Rendon, Brian Goodwin and Destin Hood, Kickham allowed just 2 earned runs through 6.1 innings.

Kickham is a tall left-handed pitcher with a plus fastball and a tailor-made build for starting pitching. His sinker generally sits in the 89-92 mph range with hard, heavy movement and his four-seamer touches 94. He also throws a solid slider and changeup, and an occasional overhand curve. His arm action has some red flags–hyperabduction–and he does throw across his body. But, he’s done a nice job improving his timing recently. Starting his hands lower and shortening his stride has led to better overall control.
